22 Apr 2008 - Book week, Walk to School on Wednesdays & Cricket Club

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to the Summer Term.  This is a particularly eventful and busy term filled with both assessments and summer fun activities for the children.  Statutory assessments for Year 6 and Year 2 will be undertaken over the next few weeks.  Please support your children through the test period and encourage them to get plenty of sleep, eat well and to stay relaxed.  Most of the other year groups will be taking annual assessments this half term – so please ensure your child is in school.

Thursday, 24th April

I am pleased to advise that New  Scotland  Hill  School will operate as normal on Thursday, 24th April – our teachers will not be striking.

Walk to School on Wednesdays

This scheme starts tomorrow, please try and walk at least part of the way to school.   Walking is good exercise for the children and this will ease the amount of traffic around the school gate making it a safer environment.   Children who walk to school will have their card stamped by Year 5 pupils in the playground before the children come into school.   Please remember no card – no stamp!

Book Week

The Travelling Book Fair is in school this week and is open to parents on Thursday, 24th April between and   Thank you to the parents who have helped run the Book Fair.

Please note that there is no Kick Start this week – this will begin next Monday, 28th April.

Darren Talbot Cricket Club – Wednesdays After School

Currently the numbers signed up for this club do not make it a viable proposition to run.  However, Darren will run the club tomorrow after school in case there are forms that have not yet been returned to the office.  If your child wishes to join this club (fee payable) and has not yet returned the form please do so as a matter of urgency.  We have also opened up the Cricket Club to Year 3 children to try and increase numbers.   The Cricket Club offers specialist coaching to children and it would be a great pity if it does not continue due to lack of interest.
