12 May 2008 - KS2 Newsletter Summer Term 2008
Dear Parents and Carers,
As usual the Summer Term has begun at great speed. We would like to welcome Mrs Alison Bone and Mrs Anna Taylor to Key Stage 2 and hope they look forward to joining us in the many exciting projects planned this term. In June, Year 3 will be visiting
Before all this the children will be taking tests in May and we would ask for your cooperation in ensuring they come into school having had a good breakfast and plenty of sleep. Year 6 SATs begin on Monday 12th May.
On the reverse of this letter you will find the curriculum map for this term and we hope this will assist you in supporting your children in their learning.
It is important that children read for a sustained period of time each day and, although many of your children are strong, confident readers, we would like to remind you that encouraging your children to read by sharing literature with them, listening to them read and reading to them is often the one activity done at home which has the most impact on their achievements in school. Discussing what they have read helps children’s comprehension improve. Local libraries are a good resource and books and story sacks can be borrowed from the school library.
Physical Education
PE days are included in the curriculum information which is attached to this letter. It is very important that the children have the correct clothing and we would suggest that kits come in on Mondays and get taken home on Fridays. This also gives the teacher flexibility of including an extra PE session if appropriate.
Children should have: a plain white or plain house colours t-shirt, black shorts and a pair of plimsolls or trainers for outdoor use. Grey jogging bottoms are optional for outdoor use. Please note that Year 3 will be receiving Tennis lesson from a specialist coach this term. This means that for 5 weeks commencing 28th April they will have a PE lesson on a Tuesday rather than a Wednesday.
Cookery
If there are any parents who can help with cookery in Year 5 on a Tuesday afternoon it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact the class teacher.
Please let your child’s teacher know if they are worried about anything or there are any matters you wish to discuss. You can telephone the school office or speak to the teacher after school to arrange a convenient time.
Thank you for your continuing support
Yours sincerely
