16 May 2008 - Walk to School Week, Parking, Vouchers & Holidays
Dear Parents and Carers
Walk to School Week
Next week the annual summer Walk to School Week will be running. Each child will be given a card to collect a sticker which will be issued each morning that the child walks to school. The children are enthusiastic about WOW (Walk to School on Wednesdays) and I’m sure all will try and make the effort to walk all or part way to school next week.
Parking Outside the School
There are further reports of inconsiderate parking in the road outside the school. The safety of our children should be of up most importance to us all. Please take due care and consideration when driving and parking in the roads near the school.
Family Holidays in Term Time
The Local Authority guidance is clear and states that parents do not have any right or entitlement to take children out of school for a holiday unless there are exceptional circumstances. Please ask at the office for a copy of the Local Authority leaflet ‘Family Holidays during term-time and extended visits overseas’.
Any requests to take children out of our school for an annual holiday must be made on the appropriate form ‘Request for Leave of Absence From School on Annual Holiday during Term Time’ and submitted to the Headteacher. Full details of the exceptional circumstances for your request must be given on the form in order for it to be considered.
Vouchers
Voucher schemes being run by both Tescos (Computers for Schools) and Sainsburys (Active Kids) are coming to an end. We would be grateful if any vouchers collected at home can be brought into school as soon as possible. These schemes do provide valued resources for the children in school.
Inset Day
A reminder that Friday, 23rd May is a training day for teachers and there will be no school for pupils.
Yours sincerely
Susan Thomas
Acting Headteacher
