11 Jan 2008 - KS2 Curriculum Information

Dear Parents,

Although Christmas seems such a long time ago we would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for the lovely presents that we received from the children at the end of last term. The time and thought taken was very much appreciated.

On the reverse of this letter you will find the curriculum map for this term and we hope this will assist you in supporting your children in their learning.

Please ensure the children complete their homework to a high standard.  This should be done using either a pencil or non-biro blue pen as appropriate.  Please check children’s homework diaries on a daily basis and ensure their homework is completed and handed in on time.

We would like to remind you that encouraging your children to read by sharing literature with them, listening to them read and reading to them is often the one activity done at home which has the most impact on their achievements in school. Local libraries are a good resource and books and story sacks can be borrowed from the school library.

Quick recall of tables is essential if children are to develop mental arithmetic strategies.  In order to help your children, please take time to help them memorise and regularly practise tables.

The children do need warm coats in school; they go outside twice a day and can be very miserable if they feel cold.

Please let your child’s teacher know if they are worried about anything or there are any matters you wish to discuss. You can telephone the school office or speak to the teacher after school to arrange a convenient time.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs S Thomas

Mrs Bond

Mrs Whitehouse

Miss Fernley

Mrs Feeney
